Rape Crisis HOT LETTER
04
Cleveland Rape Crisis Center 3201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland 44104 391-3912 (answered 24 hrs., 7 days)
The Rape Crisis Center has received a grant of $67,500 from Cleveland Foundation which will be distributed over the next two funding years. The Center has also received a grant for the publication of "Rape Resource", a brochure which unfolds to poster size and answers most of the basic questions people ask about rape and what to do about it. The brochure will be printed by EmPress, the new women's printing company. It should be available to the public by July 1.
A photographic display of historical courthouses throughout the United States will include visual presentations by several social service agencies of which the Rape Crisis Center is one. The photo. graphs will be on display at the old Cuyahoga Courthouse, which is itself a historic landmark, from May 20 through June 30. The Courthouse is located at 1 Lakeside Avenue, across from the Justice Center. The show has been organized by the Criminal Justice Public Information Center and the County Archives.
An ordinance was introduced into Cleveland City Council in March which would authorize the City to pay for the collection of medical evidence for victims of rape and related offenses. The ordinance (No. 493-78) was introduced by Councilpersons Artha Woods, Antoinette Bechk, and John Barnes. The Rape Crisis Center urges everyone who lives in Cleveland to call her Councilperson and express support for this important nonpartisan legislation. Information that you can provide to your Councilperson includes:
offenses which took place within the City itself.
8. Metropolitan General Hospital, which is operated by the county, is already paying for persons who enter that medical facility for an examination following a sexual assault.
Below is a list of City Councilpersons and the wards they represent. They can be reached at 694-2000.

to pay for the cost of the collection of evidence. 5. If passed, the ordinance would be in compliance with an Ohio state law which was passed two and one-half years ago.
6. Passage of the ordinance would probably increase willingness to report rape. Currently rape is the least reported of all crimes of violence.
